FFRC actively strengthens the promotion and demonstration of new varieties. Recently, the breeding bases of Jian Carp No. 2, a new aquatic variety cultivated by FFRC, have been settled in Liaoning and Henan successively.

On November 16, 2021, the Freshwater Fisheries Research Institute of Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences introduced the parent of Jian Carp No. 2. With the arrival of 750 brooders of the Jian Carp No. 2 at the Freshwater Fisheries Research and Experimental base of Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the first Jian Carp No.2 reproducible base in the country was established in Liaoning Province. In the future, the base is expected to produce about 100 million Jian Carp No. 2 fry annually, with an area of more than 3,000 mu for demonstrating fish seed rearing.

FFRC signed a seed introduction agreement with Henan Longcheng Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. On January 4, 2022, the company introduced more than 1,000 kg of Jian Carp No. 2 brooders to Shangqiu City, Henan Province, which marked that the second breeding base of Jian Carp No. 2 settled in Henan.

The next step is to strengthen the cooperation between FFRC and the seed introduction unit in parent breeding, seed rearing, adult fish culture, etc., to ensure a stable supply of healthy and high-quality seedlings, to give full play to the advantages of the new variety Jian Carp No. 2, to expand its influence, and to effectively improve the coverage rate of improved varieties in China’s carp industry.
