From November 15, 2021 to January 28, 2022, FFRC assisted Wageningen Center for Development Innovation of Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands to successfully complete the “Responsible Aquaculture Development” online training course. Director Xu Pao and Deputy Director Xu Gangchun of FFRC provided expert consultation and intellectual support for the training course.
This training course adopted the mixed teaching mode of “offline self-learning and online communication”, and made full use of platforms such as TalentLMS and Padlet to carry out distance teaching. Various forms such as assignments, group discussions and individual reports. The training content mainly covered an overview of aquaculture, the ecosystem approach to aquaculture (EAA), good aquaculture practices and sustainable aquaculture techniques. Associate Researcher Li Hongxia and Associate Researcher Yuan Yuan of FFRC respectively gave lectures on pond recirculating aquaculture technology and integrated rice-fish farming technology. Director Xu Pao and Deputy Director Xu Gangchun successively provided on-site technical consultation as specially invited experts and gave a comprehensive introduction on China's innovative work and phased achievements in promoting responsible aquaculture construction and promoting the sustainable development of aquaculture to participants from all over the world, shared Chinese wisdom, pointed out the development direction. They won high praise from participating experts and participants. A total of 20 participants from 10 countries including China and Algeria participated in the training.
This training course relies on the “China-FAO-Netherlands Tripartite Cooperation Project”. The first phase of the project (2020-2022) aims to strengthen the capacity building and to enhance the international training capacity of the two FAO reference centers, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC). FFRC and Wageningen University & Research will lay a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the tripartite project and the realization of capacity improvement goals by participating in the training programs of both parties, implementing customized training, and jointly developing training courses and knowledge products.
