On August 18, the “Training Course on Tilapia Breeding and High-yield Farming Techniques for Developing Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by FFRC was officially launched.
Director Xu Pao said that tilapia, as the world’s major cultured species, occupies an important position in global aquaculture. As a supporting unit of the national characteristic freshwater fish industry technology system, FFRC has strong scientific research and technical strength in the tilapia industry, and will surely make contributions to the improvement and upgrading of tilapia industry chain in the vast number of developing countries.
Chief Zhu Dan said that Wuxi is an important open economic city in China, and the Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Commerce is willing to make full use of the “Chinese-foreign fishery exchange platform” established by FFRC to promote win-win cooperation with developing countries in the field of economy and trade.
Mr. Emmanuel Godfrey, a senior fishery officer from the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of Tanzania, made a speech as a representative of the participants. He hoped that by participating in this training course, he could learn more about the high-yield technology of tilapia and benefit the development of tilapia industry in his country.
The training course lasted 21 days, and more than 110 participants from 13 countries participated in the online training course.
