July 21 -28, the “Training Course on Aquatic Product Trade and Market Development for Developing Countries” and “Seminar on Green Fishery Development for Developing Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by FFRC were officially started. Director Xu Pao and Deputy Director Xu Gangchun of FFRC, Zhao Yuhong, Deputy Chief of Foreign Economic Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, and Zhan Yi, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Wuxi Municipal People’s Government attended the opening ceremony of the two projects and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Jing Xiaojun, Chief of the Dept. of International Cooperation and Education of FFRC.
Director Xu Pao mentioned in his opening speech that China has been actively conducting fishery trade cooperation with developing countries, providing local high-quality aquatic products and jobs, enhancing friendship with local people and consolidating friendship with partner countries. He hopes to use this training platform to deepen communication and exchanges in the field of “aquatic product trade and market development”, promote cooperation and negotiation, learn from each other, and jointly discuss development strategies of aquatic product trade with ecological, economic and social benefits, and make positive contributions to the cooperation and exchanges in the field of aquatic economy and trade between countries.
Deputy Director Xu Gangchun introduced the relevant scientific research achievements of FFRC and its positive contributions in serving global fishery governance and building a community with a shared future for mankind. He hoped to join hands with all the participants’ countries to discuss the concept and policy planning of green fishery development, share the successful experience in the development of green fishery in China, and jointly write a “new chapter” for the sustainable development of the green fishery industry.
Deputy Director Zhao Yuhong congratulated the successful opening of the training course, and highly recognized the long-term contribution of FFRC in the field of fishery cooperation. He hoped that the training could further focus on the international multilateral and bilateral cooperation, and promote the extension of Jiangsu industrial projects, and develop cooperation and create win-win situation with developing countries in multiple fields. Deputy Director Zhan Yi said that Wuxi is willing to actively promote win-win cooperation with the majority of developing countries in more areas, and help promote new breakthroughs in economic and trade exchanges, cultural exchanges, educational cooperation between participants’ countries and Wuxi through the organization of international economic and trade exchange activities with developing countries.
Senior fisheries officials from Sri Lanka and Mauritius spoke as representatives of the training program.
Both training programs lasted 21 days and attended by 45 participants from 9 countries including Mauritius, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Uganda, Thailand and Jordan.
