On August 9, the 2nd “Belt and Road” Fishery Economic and Trade Fair was held at FFRC. Xu Pao, Director of FFRC, Wang Jianhong, Vice President of Guangdong Hengxing Group, and David Mullik, General Manager of Uganda Green Fisheries Co., Ltd. attended the online meeting. The meeting was presided by Jing Xiaojun, Chief of Dept. of International Cooperation and Education of FFRC.

Director Xu Pao said that this online fair has received strong support from the Ministry of Commerce, especially the Academy for International Business Officials, MOFCOM. He said that in recent years, under the framework of South-South cooperation, FFRC has trained more than 10,000 fishery officials and technicians from 134 countries through foreign aid technical training, overseas technical guidance and demonstration, multilateral and bilateral aquatic science and technology cooperation, and overseas student training and education. At the same time, with the support of the Chinese government, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the fishery authorities of various countries, FFRC has established a number of aquaculture technology demonstration bases overseas. In addition, through the “matchmaking” of FFRC, a number of Chinese aquaculture enterprises have conducted effective docking and in-depth cooperation with the “Belt and Road” countries.

President Wang Jianhong said that he would take this online fair as an opportunity to formally sign a tripartite cooperation agreement with Uganda Green Fisheries Co., Ltd. and Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, making full use of the strong technical support of FFRC, in order to vigorously develop Uganda's aquaculture industry, promote its national economy, contribute to expanding employment, improving the structure of food and nutrition, and benefiting the people.

Subsequently, Director Xu Pao, President Wang Jianhong and General Manager David Mullik signed a tripartite cooperation agreement on behalf of FFRC, Guangdong Hengxing Group and Uganda Green Fishery Co., Ltd.

It is reported that the online fair also organized nearly 10 leading domestic aquatic enterprises to carry out corporate publicity, covering aquaculture models, feed machinery, feed processing, biological preparations, aquatic product import and export, fishery machinery, and fish breeding technology extension and many other fields. FFRC will continue to play a role as a link to build a bridge for international aquatic economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, and to help domestic and international dual-circulation development.

A total of more than 230 representatives of fishery authorities and fishery enterprises from 10 countries including Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Jordan, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Guyana were invited to attend the trade fair.
