Researcher Yang Jian Attended the AFS Annual Meeting 2022

On August 21-25, the AFS Annual Meeting 2022 was held in Spokane, Washington, USA. Affected by the epidemic, the meeting was held in an “offline + online” manner. Researcher Yang Jian from Freshwater Fisheries Research Center was invited to participate in the online meeting and gave an oral report.

Prof. Yang Jian made an oral report on Obvious effectiveness of Fishing Ban on the Yangtze River demonstrated by Coilia nasus at the Mississippi-Yangtze River Basin Symposium: Learning from River Conservation and Management Across the Globe.

The meeting not only provided a platform for scholars from China and the United States to exchange the latest scientific research progress on the ecological conservation of the Yangtze-Mississippi River and other major river basins, but also effectively shared the good implementation experience of FFRC in evaluating the effectiveness of fishing bans in the Yangtze River.

Founded in 1870, the American Fisheries Society is the world’s first fisheries academic society. The annual meeting of the Society is one of the most influential international fishery academic meeting, and has always attracted leading experts and scholars in fisheries research from all over the world. This year the theme of the meeting is “What Do Fish Mean to Us?”. Nearly a thousand fishery experts and scholars of different countries participated in the meeting.
