Director Xu Pao Participated in the 2022 Lancang-Mekong River Synchronous Enhancement and Releasing & Joint Law Enforcement Activities

On November 10, Xu Pao, DDG of FFRC, participated in the 2022 Lancang-Mekong China-Laos Simultaneous Enhancement and Releasing & Joint Law Enforcement Activities. The event was co-sponsored by the Yangtze River Fisheries Administration of MARA, the Fishery Administration and Security Center of MARA, Yunnan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the People’s Government of Xishuangbanna Prefecture and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Nanta Province in Laos. Ma Yi, Director of the Yangtze River Fisheries Administration of MARA, attended the event and delivered a speech.

Director Ma Yi pointed out in his speech that the Lancang-Mekong China-Laos Simultaneous Enhancement and Releasing & Joint Law Enforcement Activities are important measures for China and Laos to practice the concept of harmonious coexistence between man and nature and promote the protection of aquatic organisms in the Lancang-Mekong Basin, as well as practical actions to implement the LMC mechanism and promote good-neighborliness and friendship.

This event is the eighth time that China and Laos have jointly carried out fishery law enforcement and aquatic life enhancement and releasing activities in the waters of the Lancang-Mekong River. A total of 395,000 fry were released during the event, and 20 sets of electric fishing equipment and nearly 30 nets seized in border waters were destroyed on site.
