On December 18, the groundbreaking ceremony of FFRC “Professional Experimental Base for Aquatic Animal Disease Research & Research Base for Aquatic Biological Resources Conservation in the Lower Yangtze River” was held in Gushan Town, Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province. Xu Pao, DG of FFRC, and Xu Gangchun, DDG of FFRC, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

DG Xu Pao delivered a speech on behalf of FFRC, he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders at all levels who have always cared for and supported the development of the Jingjiang Base of FFRC. He said that FFRC will build Jingjiang base into a demonstration base integrating the functions of living germplasm preservation, resource enhancement, technology research, and information exchange, and further improve the protection of aquatic biological resources and its high-level development and utilization in the Yangtze River.

Vice Mayor Yu Zheng delivered a speech on behalf of Jingjiang Municipal People’s Government. He said that Jingjiang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government will continue to provide the best and most efficient services to promote the speeding up of the base construction and its completion as soon as possible.

It is reported that FFRC has started strategic cooperation with Jingjiang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government since 2018, and officially signed a contract to build a research base for the conservation of aquatic biological resources in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in 2019. The construction project of the professional experimental base for aquatic animal disease research was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in 2022.
