On February 8-10, Wuxi Fisheries College of Nanjing Agricultural University organized 43 international students from the “Professional Master Degree Program in Fishery” to Nanjing and Baoying to carry out special research and field visits on China’s green and low-carbon fishery industry.
In Nanjing, the international students first visited the main campus of Nanjing Agricultural University, and Ms. Han Jiqin, Dean of the College of International Education, warmly welcomed the international students. Dean Han Jiqin introduced the development history of Nanjing Agricultural University to the international students, focusing on the achievements of the university in discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, targeted poverty alleviation, and international cooperation. The international students also learned about China’s advanced agricultural technology development model at the National Engineering and Technology Center for Information Agriculture, and had in-depth exchanges on the development and application of smart agriculture.
Later, the international students went to Jiangsu Fisheries Technology Extension Center and listened to the special lecture on China’s fishery technology extension by Chen Huangen, Deputy Director of the center. By visiting the Disease Prevention and Control Laboratory of the Department of Disease Control and Quarantine of the Extension Center, the international students gained a better understanding of the role of extension agencies in the fishery industry.
In Baoying Shuixian Industrial Co., Ltd., the international students experienced the modern industrial layout and operation mode of China’s modern fishery companies, and learned the development of the company’s industrial chain. In Jiangsu Baoying Modern Fishery Industrial Park, the international students watched the circulating system of purification and treatment in pond culture and fishery-photovoltaic system, and conducted on-site discussions.
This special study and visit activity closely follows the theme of “green and low-carbon fishery industry”, through a series of lectures, professional investigations, practices, etc., so that the international students can have a more intuitive understanding of China’s green agricultural and fishery education system, low-carbon fishery extension model, and ecological fishery development status.
