On the morning of June 6, Aquatic Organisms Enhancement and Releasing Activity organized by Changshu Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural and technically supported by FFRC was successfully held in Changshu section of Yangtze River. Deputy Director General XU Gangchun of FFRC attended this activity.
At the activity, Deputy Director XU Gangchun and Director LI Xiaoxuan of Lukou Base, Jiangsu Provincial Freshwater Fisheries Research Institute, jointly inaugurated “Changshu Yangtze River Fishery Culture Science and Research Base”. FFRC was appointed as the “Yangtze River Fishery Culture Science and Research” Institute.
Deputy Director XU Gangchun made a detailed introduction to the research on large-scale seed breeding, ecological value and conservation of Coilia nasus, and further explained the importance and meaning of science and technology in supporting enhancement and releasing, and the “Great Protection of Yangtze River”.
It is reported that this activity released a large amount of precious and endangered species in the Yangtze River, including a total of 500 Chinese sturgeons, 50,000 suckers and 15,000 Coilia nasus. In addition, 2.6 million silver carp and bighead summerlings were released by nonprofit social organizations.
