Deputy Director XU Gangchun Conducted Investigation on Integrated Rice-Fishery Farming in Guizhou and Sichuan

From June 17 to 21, Dr. XU Gangchun, Deputy Director of FFRC, Post Scientist of the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industrial Technological System, visited Congjiang, Guizhou Province and Longchang, Sichuan Province for the filed survey on integrated rice-fishery farming driving rural revitalization in western regions. LIU Ting, Director of Guiyang Experimental Station of the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industrial Technological System, WANG Qifu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Fishery Research Institute, Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS), ZHANG Xiaoping, Deputy Director of Fishery Research Institute, GAAS, ZHOU Jian, Deputy Director of Fishery Research Institute of Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS), Stationmaster of Chengdu experimental station of national technology system of freshwater fish industry, LU Hong, Deputy Director of Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Congjiang County, GUO Zhaoxiang, Director General of Neijiang Fishery Development Center, LI Jibing, Member of CPC Longchang Standing Committee, Director of United Front Work Department, CPC Longchang Municipal Committee, participated in the investigation.

The investigation team visited Jiache Village, Congjiang County, Guizhou Province, Shuanglong Village, Hujia Town, Longchang County, Sichuan Province, the Integrated Rice-Fishery Farming Research Institute in Jieshi Town, and the Yangtze River Modern Agricultural Industrial Park. Through on-site visit and follow-up visit, the investigation team conducted the survey on the key technology and ecological compensation of local integrated rice-fishery farming, held discussions on the core demonstration, industrial development, ecological farming technology, aquaculture economic profit, sales, and ecological protection of terrace etc., providing a “FFRC Solution” for the high-quality development of integrated rice-fishery farming.

A discussion meeting was held in Longchang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of integrated rice-fishery farming in Longchang, the development of paddy field facilities and the development situation of Neijiang “Yulong No. 1” white snakehead industry boosting the fishery industry. At the meeting, FFRC and Longchang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs signed an all-around cooperation agreement.

By emphasizing practice and industries driven by technology innovation, the investigation team carried out field research on the cultivation model of integrated rice-fishery farming ecosystem and ecological compensation system in the western regions, promoted the extension of the whole industry chain of integrated rice-fishery farming from the perspective of “coordinated production and ecology, high-quality and green products, and deep integration of agriculture and tourism”, contributing to the promotion and development of the integrated rice-fishery farming, the proper use of the farmland resources, the income increase of local farmers. The investigation would further promoted the high-quality development of the regional integrated rice-fishery farming ecosystem, the cultural inheritance and the sustainable and healthy development of natural resources.
