Recently, Researcher Yang Hong, Chief Scientist of the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System and Chief of the Dept. of Bio-Technology of FFRC, went to Guangdong Province and Hainan Province to investigate the development status of the whole tilapia industry chain.
The expert group visited tilapia seed breeding enterprises, adult fish culture enterprises, feed enterprises and aquatic product processing enterprises in Zhaoqing City, Maoming City, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, Wenchang City and Haikou City, Hainan Province, and investigated the local tilapia breeding and cultivation, quality improvement, brand building and standardized production work and carried out technical services.
Experts pointed out that Guangdong and Hainan, as the two major tilapia producing areas in China, should further accelerate the transformation and application of information technology such as the Internet of Things, big data and modern biotechnology in tilapia industry, so that the development of science and technology can provide strong support for the tilapia new variety cultivation, ecological aquaculture, processing and circulation. It is necessary to further transform the mode of development, and continuously improve the overall quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the tilapia industry.
In view of the problems found in the research and the needs put forward by the research subjects, experts said that they will give full play to the advantages of the modern agricultural industrial technology system, achieve technological breakthroughs through scientific and technological research, solve the problems in the development of the whole tilapia industry chain, help the tilapia industry improve quality and efficiency, promote green development, and increase fishermen's income.
