On November 21, the “Seminar on Regulation and Law-enforcement of Fishery Activities for the Maritime Silk Road Countries”, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, was successfully completed. Hu Haiyan, Deputy Director General of FFRC, and Wan Songjun, Deputy Chief of the Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation Division of Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Commerce, attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches,

Deputy Director Hu Haiyan said that the seminar focused on the supervision and law enforcement of fishery activities, which is of great significance to promoting the sustainable development of global fisheries. In the future, FFRC will fully promote policy dialogue and technical cooperation among the participating countries in the field of “regulation and law-enforcement of fishery activities”, so as to promote the sustainable development of global fisheries.

Deputy Chief Wan Songjun hoped that all the participants and friends could take this seminar as an opportunity to continuously enhance consensus, deepen cooperation under the “Belt and Road” initiative, actively promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and jointly contribute to the realization of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr. Garba Usman, Deputy Director of the Department of Fisheries, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Nigeria, delivered a speech as the representative of the participants.

29 officials from seven countries, including Cambodia, South Africa, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Jamaica, Thailand and Ethiopia attended this seminar.
