Director Xu Pao Participated in the 2023 China-Laos Fishery Administration Joint Law Enforcement & Enhancement and Releasing Activity

Recently, the 2023 China-Laos Fishery Administration Joint Law Enforcement& Enhancement and Releasing Activity was held in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. This activity was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Laos. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the event and delivered a speech, and Xu Pao, Director General of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, attended the event.

Vice Minister Ma Youxiang pointed out that the Lancang-Mekong River is not only a golden waterway with great development potential, but also an ecological corridor related to the well-being of future generations. As friendly neighbors, China and Laos have persistently sought cooperation and spared no effort to protect the Lancang-Mekong River, and have jointly carried out fishery administration and law enforcement actions and aquatic life enhancement and releasing activities for many years, which have successfully created a “golden model” for regional cooperation.

A total of 1.34 million fry were released in this activity, such as Mystus wyckioides Chaux et Fang, Barbodes daruphani luosuoensis Wu et Lin, Dai common carp, and Tor sinensis. Since 2015, China and Laos have carried out a total of 13 joint fishery administration law enforcement & enhancement and releasing activities, which have achieved positive results.
