From August 12 to 23, the “2023 Jiangsu Provincial Training Course for Agricultural (Fisheries) Technology Extension Talents” of the 2023 Project on Agricultural(Fisheries) Technology Extension System Reform and Construction issued by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was held in Wuxi. Consultant Qian Jun of Science and Technology Education Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Bing Xuwen, deputy director general of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches, 231 grass-roots agrotechnical extension personnel from 69 counties and districts in 13 prefecture-level Municipalities in Jiangsu Province participated in the training.
Prof. Bing Xuwen, Deputy Director General of FFRC, extended a warm welcome to all the participants. He said that FFRC would do its best to ensure the effectiveness and quality of the training in accordance with the requirements of Jiangsu Province, and the professors would be selected and the itinerary will be carefully arranged. He hoped that each participant would not only gain professional knowledge and operational capability, but also use the training as a medium to further strengthen in-depth cooperation with FFRC, create a new situation of high-quality development of the fishery industry in Jiangsu, and stimulate new vitality for the “new land of fish and rice” of Jiangsu.
Counsultant Qian Jun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, in which he put forward three requirements and expectations for the participants: firstly, they should cherish the opportunity of learning, fully communicate with experts and other participants, and promote the in-depth cooperation between the grassroots level and scientific research institutes in the field of agricultural extension; secondly, they should follow the regulations and abide by the training system; thirdly, they should put what they have learnt to practical use and think diligently to improve their quality and ability, implement the national policies to the grassroots level, and actively promote the modernized agrotechnical model of modernized agricultural technology.
This second-phase training course lasts for 10 days, FFRC has carefully selected experts and professors with solid theory and rich experiences, and organized on-site visit in several demonstration based, such as Yixing Dapu Station of Freshwater Prawn, Jiangyin City, Yixing City. Through those visits, participants had a deep understanding of the construction of the standardized ponds, waste water treatment for pond culture, polyculture of shrimp and crab, intensive culture of puffer fish and anchovy, and conducted on-site exchanges.
