From October 10-14, Yang Hong, Chief Scientist of the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System, organized experts from relevant stations of tilapia seed industry to carry out research on the development status of seed industry in major tilapia producing areas such as Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi.

The research aims to fully understand the development status and problems faced by tilapia seed enterprises in Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi in terms of commercial breeding, production and operation, seed sales, market, etc.. The expert team focused on visiting the representative tilapia seed enterprises in the three places, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the relevant person in charge of practical problems such as insufficient supply of tilapia autumn fry, adverse effects of extreme disasters such as typhoons on seed breeding, short land lease term and enterprise loan difficulties to sort out the blockages and pain points in the development of tilapia seed industry and explore the strategic direction for the sustainable development of tilapia seed industry, which has provided strong support for the next step of the “15th Five-Year Plan” tilapia seed industry-related research work and scientific planning.
