On October 18, FFRC and French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) signed a bilateral scientific research cooperation framework agreement, opening a new chapter in Sino-French cooperation in the field of aquaculture. The signing ceremony was attended by Bing Xuwen, Deputy Director General of FFRC, Wang Jiadi, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Division of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Dr. Francois Roger, Regional Director of the CIRAD, and Dr. Jean-Michel Mortillaro, Head of the Aquaculture Research Team.
At the meeting, DDG Bing Xuwen said that FFRC and CIRAD share the important mission of scientific research, technology extension and talent training, and both sides have always been concerned about the healthy and sustainable development of the world’s aquaculture. This cooperation is the first cooperation between CIRAD and the Chinese Institutions in the filed of aquaculture and is an important milestone for both China and France.
Deputy Director Wang Jiadi said that the signing of the agreement is of great significance to the development of both FFRC and CIRAD in the aquaculture sector, and also represents a new beginning. She hoped that the two sides can join forces, complement each other’s advantages, and accelerate the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
Dr. Li Hongxia of FFRC, Dr. Francois Roger, and Dr. Jean-Michel Mortillaro from CIRAD introduced their respective responsibilities, research fields, scientific research achievements, and talent training. Director Francois Roger and DDG Bing Xuwen signed the cooperation framework agreement on behalf of both sides.
