Soccer is a powerful unifying factor amid diverse interests but the outcomes after full time of play can be a bitter or sweet reward that ably separates boys from men. This is what became of Wuxi Fisheries College (WFC) undergraduates when they were massacred 3-0 by postgraduates counterparts in a mini tournament each side is expected to face WFC staff and oversees students.
Both sides equally determined, postgraduates dominated game time forcing undergraduates chase own shadows for the better part of the first half. With superb coordination in all departments, postgraduates kept the opponents keeper on his toes of every moment.
Realizing that they were under siege, the undergraduates started attacking in numbers to advance into postgraduates half but could not quickly retreat to cover up leaving their defense porous for the towering Manase Ogkok to hit the net twice at the close of the first half.
A Never die sprit, fired up the undergraduates to display brilliance in the first 20 minutes of the second half as fatigue was evident to be catching up with their opponents who resorted to quick substitutions. Pilling more pressure, undergraduates went on winning more corner kicks but couldn’t pull back one. Undergraduate’s last minutes defense lax rewarded Mtsako Nomvela to increase the tally to 3-0. Both sides admitted of a game well played but in the interest of fair play, there must be one winner.
The master students is from the 2015-2017 Professional Master’s Program in Fishery Science. There are currently 20 students from 8 countries. While the well-organized lectures and culture experiencing activities, they also enjoyed the colorful outdoor activities such as basketball match and football match.
