On 25th October, the opening ceremony of 2019 Professional Master Degree Program in Fisheries "was held by Wuxi Fisheries College of Nanjing Agricultural University, which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Education. Prof. Yan Xianglin, Vice President of Nanjing Agricultural University, Prof. Xu Pao, Director General of FFRC and Dean of Wuxi Fisheries College; Madam Zhao Yuhong, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce; Prof. Zhang A’ying, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Nanjing Agricultural University and Prof. Tong Min, Deputy Dean of the International Education College attended the opening ceremony.
On the opening ceremony, Prof. Yan Xianglin introduced the history and development of Nanjing Agricultural University and the construction of world-class disciplines. He also expressed hopes and requirements for foreign students.
Prof. Xu Pao said that under the guidance of headquarter, Wuxi Fisheries College has vigorously promoted the internationalization of education, attaches great importance to foreign aid degree education programs, and has successfully undertaken the implementation of the three-phase master program in fisheries. The college will also further improve the conditions for running schools.
Madam Zhao Yuhong introduced a brief overview of China's foreign exchanges and cooperation. She also hopes that foreign students can make the most of their two years in China, expand their knowledge, learn technology, and develop friendships. Contacts to further expand cooperation space.
Prof. Zhang A’ying and Prof. Tong Min introduced the development history and international exchanges of the Graduate School and International Education College, respectively. They hope that all international students could plan their study well, make full use of various learning resources and become a messenger of cross-cultural communication.
Mr. MontshwariMolefe, a representative of foreign students from Botswana, thanked the Chinese government for funding. All students will cherish the two years of studying in Wuxi, China. After returning to hometown, they will contribute more to the sustainable development of fisheries and be committed to being a messenger of cross-cultural communication.
The program is the fifth high-end foreign aid education program funded by the Ministry of Commerce, and aims to train high-end fishery talents from government in developing countries. 24 international students from 16 countries including Uganda, Laos, Rwanda, Ghana, Cambodia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia, Gambia, Liberia, Algeria, Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan, Botswana, Ethiopia, etc. are strictly selected by our consulate abroad.
After the opening ceremony, Prof. Yan Xianglin visited the achievements exhibition hall of FFRC. He highly praised for outstanding achievements in the fields of scientific research, college construction, “Belt and Road” international cooperation, and industrial support.
