On January 5, 2020, the front page of the “People’s Daily” was titled “Green Development, Creating a Golden Economic Belt-Written on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the Symposium on Promoting the Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt”, and reported the achievements in the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt in the aspects of ecology, transportation and economy after general secretary Xi Jinping put forward the idea of “working together for greater protection and not for greater development”. It introduces the achievements of the project “Aquatic Ecological Compensation and Restoration Project of the National Aquatic Germplasm Resource Reservation of the Chinese Mitten Crab in Jingjiang Section of the Yangtze River” undertaken by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences（CAFS）.
In close cooperation with the Jingjiang Fishery Administration Supervision Team,FFRC has carried out a number of restoration studies in the Jingjiang section of the lower Yangtze River, including ecological floating beds, artificial fish nests, and artificial oasis, effectively promoting three-dimensional ecological restoration. This work is the first case in the Yangtze River, and finally achieved many breakthroughs, providing references for ecological compensation and protection of rivers in China, and laying a solid foundation for promoting green and high-quality development and building a golden economic belt.
