Two research achievements of FFRC passed the S&T evaluation of MARA

From June 19th to 20th, experts from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs organized the evaluation of two projects completed by FFRC, namely, "Innovation and Application of Key Technology for Rice-fish Ecological Culture" and “The key ecological technology and application of the discharged water treatment from freshwater fish ponds”.

 

The research results of "Innovation and Application of Key Technology for Rice-fish Ecological Culture" hosted by Prof. Dr. Xu Pao systematically clarified the flow law of biogenic elements in rice-fish farming system, revealed the reduction effect of non-point source pollution, and laid the theoretical basis for ecological culture and quality and efficiency improvement under the rice-fishing model. The result concludes 8 key technologies with focusing on controlling fertilizer and reducing medicine, effectively solving the problems of rice yield reduction, low quality and efficiency and non-point source pollution; The innovation of "rice-fish", "rice-turtle", "rice-shrimp", "rice-frog" and "rice-duck" demonstration and promotion methods for cross-border integration helps achieving a win-win situation in the protection and utilization of paddy fields. The results have been demonstrated and promoted in 10 provinces (cities) nationwide, and have achieved significant ecological, social and economic benefits.

  The research results of “The key ecological technology and application of the discharged water treatment from freshwater fish ponds” chaired by Prof. Chen Jiazhang clarified the formation process and mechanism of pond waste waters, and revealed the material composition, discharge characteristics and their impact on the environment, created the national industry standards for the discharge of tail water from freshwater aquaculture ponds in the country, and promoted the green development of aquaculture; it helps develop a variety of functional microorganisms and aquatic plants coupled with ecological purification technology; constructed the circulating water treatment system, including overflow dams, subsurface dams, the ditch purification area, ecological wetland purification area and ecological water storage tank purification area. The results have been promoted and applied in 5 provinces across the country, and have achieved significant ecological, social and economic benefits.
