On July 27, the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System organized some experts to go to Huazhou City, Guangdong Province to conduct exchanges and investigation. Chief Scientist of the System, Researcher Yang Hong from FFRC, System Post Scientists Lu Maixin, Li Laihao, Yuan Yongming, Zhao Jinliang, Ye Xing, Chen Jianjia, Jiang Lan, and Directors of the Comprehensive Experimental StationLi Ruiwei, Gao Kaijin participated in the event.

The expert group first participated in a meeting organized by Huazhou Municipal Government. Chief expert Yang Hong introduced the organizational structure and R&D tasks of the Characteristic Freshwater Fish System; Yu Youxi, Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Huazhou City, introduced the development of the tilapia industry and key fishery work in Huazhou City; Deputy Mayor of Huazhou City Mo Yan introduced the economic development of Huazhou City, welcomed and supported the participation of experts in the fishery development of Huazhou. Managers from Guangdong Baiwei Biotechnology and other companies also participated in the exchange, each introduced the current status of the company's production, operation and existing problems, and interacted with relevant experts. Li Yagui, member of the Party group of Huazhou agricultural and rural Bureau, and Yan Yanli, head of the Fishery Resources Protection and Development Unit, attended the meeting.

After the meeting, the expert group went to Guangdong Yujia Aquatic Food Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Baiwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd. located in Baiyang Industrial Park to conduct on-site investigations and communicate with the heads of the companies.

China is the world's largest tilapia producer and trader, Guangdong is the largest tilapia industryprovince in China, Maoming is the tilapia capital of China, and its tilapia farming is mainly in Huazhou. A relatively complete industrial chain of seedling, breeding and processing has been established in the local area. On the basis of the preliminary work, the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System will carry out in-depth cooperation with local governments, promotion departments, enterprises, etc. in terms of improved tilapia varieties, breeding models, comprehensive processing technologies, regional branding, and industrial park construction.
