On October 27, Fuyang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Funan County People’s Government jointly organized the "Fuyang City 2020 Solenia oleivora bottom-seeding, enhancement and releasing activity".Dong Zhicheng,director of Fuyang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Li Yunchuan, mayor of Funan County, Wan Yibing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), and Cui Kai, director of the Fisheries Research Institute of Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences attended the event.
During the event, Wan Yibing,deputy secretary of FFRCsaid that with the strong support of the Fuyang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Funan County People’s Government, FFRC together with the Fuyang Municipal Fisheries Administration and the Fisheries Research Institute of Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, took the lead in making a breakthrough in the artificial breeding technology of Solenia oleivora, which provided strong scientific and technological support for the protection and sustainable utilization of theSolenia oleivora resources in my country. This is the first time in China that the enhancement and releasing of Solenia oleivora has been carried out inthe Huai River, which is of great significance to the protection of aquatic biological resources in theHuai River. In the next step, FFRC would further utilize its advantages in technology and talents, fully support the development of modern fisheries in Fuyang City and the ecological protection of the Huai River, and help Funan County to develop the artificial breeding of Solenia oleivora.
In order to scientifically guarantee the enhancement and releasing of Solenia oleivora, the relevant scientific research team of FFRCscientificallyselected the sites according to the biological characteristics and habitat characteristics ofSolenia oleivora, set up two types of releasing, and artificially markedthe released Solenia oleivora so that they could be tracked and recaptured later, and evaluated the effect of enhancement and releasing, which provided a scientific basis for the management and protection of the Huai RiverSolenia Oleivora National Aquatic Germplasm Reserve.
