The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs organized the selection of excellent teams for poverty alleviation through industrial technology, and recently commended 10 excellent teams. The "Freshwater Fish Industry Technology Poverty Alleviation Team" led by Ge Xianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of FFRC and Chief Scientist of the National Conventional Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System, was successfully selected. System position experts, Researcher Zhu Jian and Researcher Dong Zaijie from FFRC are the core members of the team.

Since 2016, researcher Ge Xianping has led a team of poverty alleviation experts to develop integrated rice-fish farming industry as an important means to help targeted poverty alleviation, and continue to develop integrated rice-fish farming in Yunnan, Guangxi, Anhui, Fujian, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangdong and other places. Through the introduction of new varieties, technical training, printing and distribution of materials, investigation and observation, technical consultation, demonstration operations, on-site guidance, etc., to carry out scientific and technological poverty alleviation and help fishermen and farmers to increase their income.Through the efforts of the team, a new way has been explored to develop the integrated rice-fish farming industry and achieve targeted poverty alleviation, and it has made an important contribution to win the fight against poverty. By 2020, a total of more than 100,000 mu of integrated rice-fish farming has been demonstrated and 200 million fry had been given away. 42 training courses have been carried out and more than 8,200 farmers has been trained in integrated rice-fish farming. With an average annual income increase of over 3,000 yuan per household, nearly 30,000 poor households in 20 poor counties were lifted out of poverty and became rich.
