On December 17, Li Qiufeng, vice mayor of Wuxi City, went to FFRC to conduct special investigations on the ecological restoration and management of the Lihu Lake and Taihu Lake under the background of the fishing ban in the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake.
During the report and exchanges, Ge Xianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of FFRC introduced the effectiveness of the center's scientific and technological support for the fishery industry development in Wuxi during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, as well as its participation in the ecological management projects of Lihu Lake and Taihu Lake. Researcher Chen Jiazhang made relevant suggestions for Wuxi City to promote the ecological restoration and management of Lihu Lake and Taihu Lake. Researcher Xu Dongpo put forward suggestions on the ecological fishery development of lakes in Jiangsu Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan, especially the protection and utilization of aquatic organisms in Lihu Lake and Taihu Lake. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the ecological restoration and management of Lihu Lake and Taihu Lake.
Vice Mayor Li Qiufeng fully affirmed the important contribution that FFRC had made to the development of fishery industry and the construction of ecological civilization in Wuxi City. During the investigation, Vice Mayor Li Qiufeng also went to the Risk Assessment Laboratory of Aquatic Product Quality and Safety Environmental Factors (Wuxi), Dept. of Aquatic Genetics and Breeding and other departments to communicate with relevant scientific and technical personnel.
