On April 7, the “Training Course on Fishery Resource Management and Aquaculture Technology for Sierra Leone” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, successfully started in FFRC. This is the first offline training program organized by FFRC in China after the pandemic, and it also marks the official restart of the center’s offline foreign aid training work. Dr. Meng Gang, Chief of the Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation Division of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, Researcher Xu Pao, Director General of FFRC attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Jing Xiaojun, Chief of the Dept. of International Cooperation and Education.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Meng Gang said in his speech that under the concept of jointly building a “community with a shared future for mankind”, China has always adhered to the concept of “truthfulness and sincerity” and the correct concept of righteousness and benefit. He hoped to use this training platform to extend and expand the effect and role, and actively promote more bilateral trade and investment cooperation between Jiangsu and Sierra Leone.
Director Xu Pao said that the opening of the training course marks the restart of the center’s offline international exchange and cooperation, and he sincerely welcomes more international friends to visit FFRC and share new opportunities for fishery development.
Mr. Moses Kamara from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Sierra Leone made a speech as a representative of participants and presented a special souvenir symbolizing “friendship and peace” to the guests.
25 participants from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Sierra Leone participated in this 21-day training course. FFRC arranged abundant activities and organized participants to Beijing, Jiangsu and other places for research and study.
It is also reported that the “Seminar on Value-added Fishery Product Development and Market System Construction for Developing Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by FFRC started on the same day, and 14 participants from seven countries, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Ghana, Thailand and Myanmar, participate in this 21-day online training.
