On April 8-9, GEF8 Chief expert Wang Quanhui of the Rural Energy and Environment Agency, MARA went to FFRC for investigation, and Researcher Xu Pao, DG of FFRC warmly welcomed Chief expert Wang Quanhui.

At the meeting, Director Xu Pao reported in detail on the freshwater fisheries which the GEF8 project mainly focuses on, explained the integrated fishery-agriculture farming, open water ecological fisheries, saline-alkali aquaculture, five major actions to promote green and high-quality development (five major upgrades), aquatic product value chain construction, etc., and introduced FFRC’s development in the fields of freshwater fishery R&D and extension, industrial support, talent training, education and training, and international cooperation.

Chief expert Wang Quanhui fully affirmed the achievements of FFRC in scientific and technological innovation, industrial support, talent training and international cooperation, and pointed out that in the future, the aquaculture industry will play a more important role in the low-carbon ecological food system, provide support for the transformation of ecological and low-carbon food production methods, and at the same time provide a guarantee for the sufficient supply of high-quality protein to the society, guide and promote the upgrading and improvement of the national dietary structure.

During the visit, Chief expert Wang Quanhui and his team members also visited the exhibition room of FFRC, some research departments and the Demonstration Base of Noah Chinese mitten Crab Industry Chain.
