On April 27, Chen Songlin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, was invited to Wuxi Fisheries College of Nanjing Agricultural University, and gave an academic lecture on the topic of “Biotechnology Innovation and Seed Industry Development of Marine Fish”.

Academician Chen Songlin analyzed the current situation and main problems of marine fish aquaculture in China, taking Cynoglossus semilaevis Gunther and Paralichthys olivaceus as examples, introduced the breakthroughs made in basic research of marine fish breeding in China, the leap achieved by breeding biotechnology, and the rapid development of fine seed creation, analyzed the key technologies and key research processes, and gave an outlook on the challenges, directions and prospects for the future development of China’s marine fish biotechnology and seed industry.

Academician Chen Songlin patiently answered the questions of young scholars, teachers and students, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on issues such as the conservation of wild germplasm resources, the revitalization of aquatic seed industry and the concept of big food. The event attracted more than 120 people, including young staff of FFRC, teachers and students of Wuxi Fisheries College.
