Recently, Prof. ZHU Jian was awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affaires (MARA) according to the Decision on Timely Rewards for the Special Task of Guarding People’s “Rice Bags” and “Vegetable Baskets” issued by MARA.

Prof. ZHU Jian has made tremendous scientific and technological advances in the area of ecological health aquaculture and integrated fishery-agriculture farming, and conduct large-scale extension and application. He led a research team to break through the basic theoretical bottleneck of carbon sequestration and emission reduction in integrated rice-fish farming, clarified the interactions among cultured species and environmental biological effects, and solved scientific research problems such as system configuration, function optimization and quality control. In addition, Prof. ZHU Jian and his research team  further explained the impact of field works on rice yield and soil quality, and created a model of improvement in quality & efficiency through symbiosis of fishery and rice and a model of poverty alleviation and income increase in the mountains by protecting fields with fishery. What’s more, the core demonstration site of “Hani terrace Integrated Rice-Fishery Farming s” and the rice-fish-duck farming pattern of “One County, One Industry” strategy created by the research team of Prof. ZHU Jian, provided technology support for the poverty alleviation in Yuanyang County, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Meanwhile, the research team was selected as one of the “Excellent Teams for Poverty Alleviation” by MARA， and won the honor of “Advanced Collective for Rural Revitalization” by Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences.
